Case Study – Attrans

Attrans Limited

A ttrans Limited operates a large fleet of trucks and trailers to service the international transport requirements of its clients. Focus was engaged to develop and deliver a software solution to assist the business in the planning, management, operating, accounting and costing of the company’s fleet of trucks while providing haulage services throughout Europe and beyond. The system enables the tracking of each truck, driver, trailer and shipment, together with its consignments during its route. It also manages the costs and profitability of each shipment. The system handles the billing for charges against consignments using a complex matrix of charge types, computed automatically based on the consignments dimensions and / or weight and the country and locality of the consignee and consignor. Invoices are issued and printed and subsequently posted to the legacy accounting system used by Attrans.

Management had immediately recognised opportunities for the optimisation of its resources as well as new means of effecting business with its business partners. Attrans has since opened offices in Holland, Italy and Tunisia and is planning to open additional offices in other countries. All Attrans offices use the system supplied by Focus described above.
Focus was later engaged to develop a Track and Trace web portal that enabled clients to login to the web site in order to place new bookings for consignments and to track to status and locality of their consignments.
